There was a time when we used to have very thick Oxford dictionary to check out the meanings of words. Those fat dictionaries were replaced by online websites that provided a simple way to get the meaning of the words and their synonyms in just a few clicks. Now checking out the meaning of words has become even more simpler with Google Search. All you have to do is go to Google Search’s website and type the word ‘Define’ followed by the word you are looking the meaning of. So if you want to know the meaning of the word ‘culture’ you will have to type ‘Define Culture’ and Google will show you the definition of this word along with its synonyms.
Use as timer
A very handy feature of Google Search allows users to set a timer for their desired lenght right on the search page. Usually users would have to download a dedicated app or find a website that would provide this functionality but thanks to Google Search you can instantly set a timer for whatever you want. All you have to do is type ‘Set timer for 30 minutes’ and the search will show a timer on your browser. Google can also ring a bell once the timer has finished to let you know. It is pretty handy if you are doing some task on the Internet and have limited time. You can Stop and Reset timer if you want. Google also shows a progress bar to indicate how much time has passed and how much remains.
Use as calculator
One of the most useful features of Google Search out of the ones mentioned in this post is Calculator. The search engine allows users to perform calculations online just as they would on the built-in calculator of Windows. Google’s calculator provides basic functions that scientific calculators have and can be very useful when you don’t have one. Users can open a full-fledge calculator by typing the word ‘Calculator’ in the search field or they could just enter the calculation they want to perform for example “25+30*18″ will result into 565. Go ahead and give it a try.
Convert Currency and units
One of the awesome features of Google Search include conversion. Users can convert currencies as well as units into each other. For currency they could type the phrase “25 british pounds in us dollars” or vice versa and they will get their desired results. They could also convert units for example typing “24 cm into inches” will give them 9.44-inches. Other supported units that are inconvertible include kilometers, meters, centimeters, millimeter, mile, yard, foot, inch, nauticle mile etc.
