We are on a path of making smart homes a reality and now a new device called the Ube Smart Dimmer has been introduced that will play a vital role in fulfilling that dream. The device allows users to wireless turn on/off and dim lights while they are at home or away.
The small device fits into the electricity socket and can be controlled using a smartphone application through the WiFi network. The device can be installed just like a normal dimmer and there’s not extra wiring or arrangements required for this to work. The Ube Smart Dimmer features a multitouch panel that users can use to turn on/off or dim the light. They can simply slide their finger up or down to raise or lower the intensity of light. As it is a multitouch panel you can control multiple lights by sliding two fingers and perform a pinch gesture to turn on or off the light.
Although the touch panel of Ube Smart Dimmer works really nicely the main attraction of this device is the app that allows users to wirelessly and remotely control the behavior of the lights and do things without much effort. Using the dedicate smartphone application users can control multiple lights both while at home or away. They can also create lighting scenes and save them so they can be instantly applied according to the mood of the user.
The remote feature of this device is super useful. While you are at a vacation away from home you can turn on the lights at night time so no one could know your house is empty. You only need a WiFi connection to interact with the Ube Smart Dimmer no matter where in the world you are at a given time.
There are two separate models of the Ube Smart Dimmer available at different prices. One is a premium model with touchpanel while the other one is a cheaper model with tactical buttons. It is the only difference between these devices while other features are same.
The Ube Smart Dimmer is currently receiving funding at the Kickstarter website where it has gathered around $168K of its $280K goal. You can get this smart dimmer for your home for by pledging $59 to the project. A non-premium and entry level dimmer is also available for $49.
