Google’s ChromeOS has finally picked up some momentum thanks to the release of the new and cheaper Chromebooks released by mainstream companies. Now with the release of Intel’s Haswell processor the Chromebooks are going to get even better taking advantage of fourth generation’s processor’s better battery life that is said to give a 2x battery life boost to upcoming Chromebook machines.
Last month Intel and Google hosted an event in which the company announced that a variety of Chromebooks that will be released by major hardware companies in the coming weeks including HP, Acer, Asus and Toshiba that will feature the latest Intel Haswell processor. Now that announcement is coming true as many companies have announced their Haswell based Chromebook machines. HP Chromebook 14
The HP Chromebook 14 is one of the best Chromebooks ever announced. It comes in multiple colours giving it a fun look that will be liked by students and users of a younger age group. This device is the first Chromebook ever with Intel Haswell processor that has been announced publicly. Scheduled to get released later this year the Chromebook 14 features a 14-inch display, 16GB SSD drive along with 100GB of free Google Drive disk space for 2 years. HP has also added the HDMI port, USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0 port, 4G data support and of course WiFi. It will provide 9.5 hours of battery life.
The Chrome book 14 will be released in several colors including coral peach, ocean turquoise and snow white. It will be released in the market at a price of $299.
Acer Chromebook C720
The Acer Chromebook C720 is the very first Haswell based Chromebook that is actually going to become available for sale in the coming days. Initially the Chromebook C720-2800 will go on sale and it will be followed by other models as well. The C720-2800 features the Intel Celeron 2955U processor and has a total of 4GB of RAM. For storage it features a 16GB SSD. Unlike the Chromebook 14 this gadget features a smaller 11.6-inch HD display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. It also has the ‘ComfyView’ feature that gives its screen an antiglare matte finish.
It sports a HDMI port, HD webcam, dual speakers, SD card slot, USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, WiFi, full sized keyboard and more. According to Acer this device will provide a battery life of up to 8.5 hours. The Acer Chromebook C720 will go on sale in the coming days at a price of $250.
Other upcoming Haswell Chromebooks
Apart from the models mentioned above there are many other Intel Haswell based Chromebooks that are in the pipeline. These Chromebooks will be manufactured by companies like HP, Asus, Toshiba and Acer. The prototypes of these devices were showcased at an event back in September.
The coming months and this year’s holiday season is going to be full of ChromeOS powered portable machines. They being small, cheap and simple to use can become the favorite on-the-go computers for many users who are looking for cheaper alternatives to Windows and Mac laptops.
