google maps new summer New features for Google Maps for mobile announced at Google I/O 2013

Google recently concluded its keynote for the I/O developer conference company is holding to announce new products. Google announced and previewed several new products today and also revealed new features the company will be adding to its current products. Among the products that Google announced new features for was Google Maps for mobile devices.

Google Maps are widely used on mobile especially the ones powered by Android and iOS. Google just a few months ago released the official Google Maps app for iOS after Apple removed it in iOS 6. The company has announced some really exciting features for the Maps applications on Mobile devices that will make the experience even better on smartphones and tablets. Google Maps director Daniel Graf demonstrated the new features that will be coming to Google Maps in summer of this year.

The new features Google announced for the Google Maps service for mobile includes integrated lists from Zagat, revamped direction and navigation as well as more reviews for places. The improved navigation Google announced today for mobile devices will include real-time incident alerts and dynamic rerouting to assist drivers while they are on the go.

Google announced that the Google Maps application for iPhone, which was released a few months ago has been very successful despite the fact that Apple has a built-in Maps service which it introduced with iOS 5 last year after it dumped Google Maps. Of course the reason why Google Maps app is a “tremendous success” is because Apple’s own Maps application has failed miserably in proving itself as a worthy replacement for more popular, feature-filled and detailed Google maps.

In the new Google Maps for mobile the search giant has introduced features that will provide more personal results to the users. From now on they will be able to rate the local businesses they visit directly from their mobile device. They will be able to rate a place out of 5 star rating. Google has also added Google Offers integration that will make it easier for users to find available offers in nearby places right when they are searching for places on the Google Maps application.

It is important to note here that the new features will be available for both Android and iOS powered smartphone and tablets (including the iPad) later this summer.
