urbee 2 3D Printed Urbee 2 car wants to Travel Across US using 10 Gallons of Ethanol

The 3D Printing is getting insane day by day and we have well passed the 3D printing phase onto the 4D Printing phenomena. Now we have a really amazing news to share related to the second generation of the Urbee called the Urbee 2 car.

What makes Urbee 2 car special is the fact that its entire structure was printed from a 3D printer, which makes it the world’s first ever car to be made out of 3D printing.  The original Urbee car was made by Jim Kor two years ago and now he and his team is working on the Urbee 2 that they hope will be able to complete a journey across the US in just 10 gallons of ethanol. The car which is made of plastic is 10-foot long and has a 1,200 pound chassis. The low weight of this vehicle makes it eco friendly as it uses less fuel than your normal car. Although the car has body made mostly of plastic it does have a metal engine, which is a hybrid engine with a max horse power of 10. It is capable of running at 40 miles per hour speed wih a 36 vole electric motor.

Although it is considered a car the Urbee 2 isn’t a car in technical terms. It has a total of 3 wheels out of which two are located on the front side while on is present at the back, which makes it a motorcycle. Also safety is a big concern for a car made mostly of plastic. In response to the safety question Kor revealed that the Urbee 2 will exceed most automative safety requirements if not all.

The company behind Urbee 2 plans to drive the car from San Francisco to New York using the pure ethanal. They will attempt to create a world record and have already got Guinness Book of world records involved.
