One of our favorite reminder apps on both iOS and Android platforms is Any.Do. It is a to-do list style app that helps users in organizing their work and day to day tasks without forgetting what’s important to them. Now the Any.Do app is expanding as the company behind it has announced three new applications for mobile devices that would allow users to manage multiple types of things which include calendar, notes and email.
Any.Do has announced that it will release a separate app for all three new type of things in addition to the reminder app which is already available in the app marketplaces of both iOS and Android. Together the suite of Any.Do apps will be called “life management apps”. That’s a catchy title for the upcoming applications but for many it has truth to itself too as for ‘connected people’ calendar, notes, email and reminders to tasks make up a lot of their work and personal life.
While the email and notes app are coming soon too Any.Do is starting things with the Calendar app, which is called Cal. The Cal app will be released for iOS and Android devices later this summer. It features similar interface as Any.Do app for reminders but with photo background images. Any.Do has added some nice gesture controls to the Cal app in which users can swipe left, right and down in order to perform different tasks.
The Cal app nicely integrates with the Any.Do reminder app and shows users the tasks for the day in the calendar. So if you had created a task in the reminder app it will automatically show up in the calendar which is great since you don’t have to create duplicates yourself. Also users can associate any task with the events in their calendar.
The Cal app is still in beta and will be released later this year. TheVerge had the opportunity to go hands-on with the beta version and they seem to like it. Here’s what they had to say about it.
One negative thing about the app, which is very likely to get fixed in the public version is that in beta app you cannot create new events while you are offline. Apart from that TheVerge calls the Cal app one the ‘best-looking’ calendar app for iOS and Android platforms.
We look forward to the release of this app and will definitely let you know as soon as Cal app as well as other Any.Do life management apps are available for download.
